Alanya / Antalya Varicose Vein Treatment Clinic

FAQ

How is varicose veins treated?

In our clinic, we apply current treatment methods that do not require incisions, sutures, local anaesthesia and hospitalisation. All this reduces the risk of complications and allows you to return to your daily life in a very short time.

The method to be used is determined after examination and detailed colour doppler ultrasound. And patient-specific selection of treatment is made. Each patient is different. The treatment methods that can be preferred according to the results are as follows:

Sclerotherapy: A special drug (sclerosant) is injected into the varicose vein to close the veins. This method is usually suitable for small varicose veins and capillary networks. After treatment, the veins are absorbed by the body over time.

Laser Treatment: By applying a high-energy laser beam to the vessel walls, the inside of the vessels is heated and closed. Laser treatment is usually used for small capillaries. It is an effective option for superficial veins.

Radiofrequency and Laser Endovenous Ablation (EVRF, EVLT, Endovenous Procedures): By applying heat into the vein with radiofrequency waves or laser, the vein wall is closed. This method helps to close the veins and normalise blood flow by heating the inside of the varicose veins. It is generally used for medium and large varicose veins. It can be performed under local anaesthesia. There are no surgical stitches or incisions.

Phlebectomy or Mini Phlebectomy: Small incisions are made and the varicose veins are surgically removed. It is usually used for large varicose veins and is performed under local anaesthesia. The healing process is usually fast. Stitches may sometimes be required.

Foam Sclerotherapy: Sclerotherapy drugs are prepared in foam form and injected into the vein. The foam spreads over a larger area within the vein and provides a more effective treatment.

Compression Therapy: Compression stockings and lifestyle changes (e.g. regular exercise, weight control) are used as supportive therapies in the treatment of varicose veins. Compression stockings regulate blood flow in the veins and relieve symptoms. They reduce the risk of complications.

Each treatment method has its advantages and disadvantages and the most appropriate treatment option is determined by the type of varicose veins and the patient's state of health. A vascular surgeon & phlebologist will perform the necessary assessments to create the most appropriate treatment plan.

In our clinic, all treatments are performed without incisions and stitches, without hospitalisation and without the risks of anaesthesia. Contact us for an initial examination and detailed colour doppler ultrasound appointment.
